Massive Data Collection with Intelligent Transport Systems
The objective of the MISC project is to design safe and efficient system architectures for a massively distributed urban scanner, consisting of private cars, taxis, buses and lorries that, while fulfilling their usual routes at varying speeds and in a dispersed manner, become capable gather, store, process and disseminate massive amounts of data.
Depending on the sensing equipment installed in the vehicle, the captured data sets may be extremely rich and varied, including information about road conditions, traffic characteristics, commercial services, environmental parameters, and sampled measurements of critical infrastructures (examples: distribution of water, local power grid). There is also an important addition to make: the proposed data concentration system should take into account the human factor by exploring new wearable sensing technologies with the aim of collecting biomedical data on drivers and passengers in urban transport. This task will be the responsibility of Biodevices.
